Acoustic Analysis
Acoustic analysis is a method of assessing mechanical wear and tear or pending failure and can be effectively used alone or in combination with vibration analysis to support predictive maintenance regimes.
Plant Machinery under normal operational conditions produces Acoustic Emissions, sound waves which create a distinct signature wave formation radiating to the outer surfaces of the equipment. Using an acoustic probe to measure the signal to noise ratios helps to define the baseline signature, highlighting any occurring variance. This enables an accurate method of monitoring each individual signature sound for changes, assessing random faults and impending failure indicators.
